Nestled along the iconic Promenade des Anglais, the Musée Masséna is housed in a grand Belle Époque villa that once served as the winter residence of Prince Victor Masséna, grandson of the famed Marshal André Masséna. Constructed between 1898 and 1901 by architect Hans-Georg Tersling, the villa boasts neo-classical Italian and Empire-style architecture, complemented by meticulously designed gardens by landscape architect Édouard André. In 1919, the villa was bequeathed to the city of Nice, stipulating its transformation into a museum and the public opening of its gardens. The museum officially opened its doors in 1921 and underwent significant restoration between 2006 and 2008 to preserve its historical integrity.
